Your support is helping future leaders in Nigeria get the education they need to be successful through our partner organization in Nigeria, S.M.I.L.E.   One of the students who has recently benefitted from S.M.I.L.E is Omolola who tells us in her own words how the support she has received has impacted her.

I really appreciate S.M.I.L.E for believing in and supporting the development of youth, helping them realize their purpose and teaching them how it can be achieved.  Coming from a humble background, where I was abandoned by my parents and raised by my late loving grandmother, I battled with low self-esteem and lacked confidence. 

Participating in the S.M.I.L.E Young Leaders Mentoring Program was the turning point for me. I was exposed to the subject of leadership and how to lead myself. This inspired and challenged me to develop my leadership skills, boldness and confidence to face a crowd. Academically, the program helped me develop time management skills and set goals in line with my vision and a lot more. I was appointed as the School Governor for S.M.I.L.E's Young Leaders Club and in no time I began to lead my peers. In addition, because of my leadership ability and academic performance, I was made the head girl in my school. In this role, the things I learned on the program helped me to lead and mentor my peers beyond the expectation of the school authority. I won awards for outstanding performance as well as the best role model to other students. With the support from S.M.I.L.E, I also initiated an Educational Outreach Program aimed at addressing the decline in academic performance of my peers; where over 180 students participated from 4 schools. 

Thanks to the S.M.I.L.E college scholarship program, I am now in college studying my dream course.

S.M.I.L.E has helped me realize that my background does not determine my future. I have the power to choose how my life will turn out. Now, I am doing just that. I know I am going to have a great future. Indeed S.M.I.L.E is the best thing that has happened in my life.
