Girls Mentoring Skit- Never Give Up
Girls' mentoring sessions are held throughout the year covering a multitude of topics. One topic was drug abuse and its effects, and to make it more interactive the girls were split into groups and were told to write their own play and then act out the skit on why youngsters resorted to taking drugs and how they could seek help if they were struggling with drugs.
Group 3’s play showed how depression was a cause of drug addiction. When someone faces severe losses either on the personal front or on the business front, they may resort to drugs and don’t realize how quickly they get sucked into it causing lifelong depression from drug abuse.
The story depicted shows how important it is for people to help others when they are in distress or depressed, and also how the afflicted person themselves should try to solve their problems rather than trying to find an easy way out. The lesson from the skit in this video is to never give up.
Good afternoon everyone. My name is Elizabeth and we are here to perform a play titled “Depression Can Lead to Drug Abuse" No matter what happens in life you should not give up. Thank you.
Facing huge losses in business, this woman becomes depressed and starts smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking drugs. Her sister tries to advise her against it, but the woman does not listen.
Her friend takes her to another person who can help her. After hearing about her situation, the person says she will help her. Feeling relieved the woman starts to cry and is very thankful to her friend and this person.
The skits helped the girls think about the causes and effects of drugs and the need for prevention. It also got them thinking about solutions, and how and where they could seek help if they needed help or knew someone who needed help to stop using drugs.
Thank you for your support towards empowering and educating girls in Sierra Leone.
